Marina del Rey and Venice

On Sunday, October 5, we left Paradise Cove and motored in no wind for a few hours to arrive at Marina Del Ray, a large marina owned by the City of Los Angeles, a mile away from the Los Angeles neighborhood of Venice. We were offered a slip for free for three days by the Del Rey Yacht Club. Another gorgeous club. Everything is so BIG in Southern California! The Club is very well funded with lots and lots of members.

As always, we met a number of interesting people at the Del Ray Yacht Club, including a couple of other Pacific Seacraft 31 owners. But our most enjoyable time was taking a walk over to Venice Beach. I tell you: we have already experienced several distinct cultures on our trip down the coast, and we haven’t yet even left California!

We were really grateful that Mike, a friend of Rick’s from work, came by to visit us. It was nice to catch up, and he also drove us to buy groceries for our next voyage on the hook!

We are off again on Wednesday, October 8, to Two Harbors and Avalon on Santa Catalina Island. Our plan is to be there three nights, then to another two yacht clubs on the mainland, and finally, to San Diego around October 13. We will post again as soon as we have Internet and can spare the time away from being outside having fun!
